Awarding of Poetry Awards "Jean Moréas" for the year 2019

This annual event will be held digitally at one session of the PWPF Poetry Event 2020, with a presentation of the award-winning poets and recitations by them. This is the annual event during which the "Jean Moréas" Prizes are awarded for Greek poetic art and Greek poetic production in its entire range. They are recognizable nationwide and concern the poetry collections that were published throughout the previous calendar year from the year of the award. They refer both to young poets and newcomers and to those who are recognized with their poetic work along time.

The event is highly appreciated by the Greek literary and artistic circle of readers. In this year's event, in addition to the institutionalized awards, a very important foreign poet will be honored, who with his/her lifelong work honors the literature outside Greece. The Award Committee is composed of Greek University professors, as well as very important poets and poetry critics who will evaluate the work of the honorees.

The Poems

in front of the
'olga petrov'
retirement home
a man kissed
a woman's hand
she raised her head
and he blushed
and what happened after
I don't know
because the wheels of my bicycle
are big
and I'm
already in another part of town.
here it begins to rain lightly and
there is the stink of mcdonalds
a girl plays accordion in front of it
stiff families eye her suspiciously.
I would crush
them with my big bicycle,
but I am polite as well
my upbringing does not let me
cause any issues.

ispred doma penzionera
'olga petrov'
muškarac ženu
ljubi u ruku
i ona digne glavu
on se postidi,
a za dalje ne znam
jer točkovi mog bicikla
veliki su i
već sam u drugom kraju grada.
tamo promiče kiša i
smrdi mcdonalds
jedna devojčica ispred
svira harmoniku
ispeglane porodice
gledaju je s podozrenjem.
pogazila bi ih najradije
svojim velikim biciklom,
ali i ja sam ugladjena
vaspitanje mi ne da
da pravim probleme.

* * *

I will never forget

some woman reading proust
in a tram in gdansk
and a fat cat who
ate my pancakes when
I was a child
I will not forget
how mom screamed
when they told her something over the phone
and the view
of the skyscrapers from some hotel
I will never forget
the waiting line for visas
and how we played frisbee
drunk in a park in berlin
before dawn
then I will never forget
how they helped uncle to escape the army
because the war began
and my grandma's hands shaking
I will never forget when sara was born
and I was at the pool
first second third
I will not forget
when I saw you
on the staircase of the bookstore.

nikad neću zaboraviti

neku ženu koja čita prusta
u tramvaju u gdanjsku
i debelog mačora koji mi je
pojeo palačinke
kad sam bila dete
neću zaboraviti
kako je mama vrisnula
kad su joj nešto javili telefonom
i jedan pogled
na nebodere iz jednog hotela
nikad neću zaboraviti
red za vize
i kako smo igrali frizbi
pijani u berlinskom parku
pred zoru
onda neću zaboraviti
kako su uju vadili iz vojske
jer je bio rat
babinih šaka koje se tresu
neću zaboraviti kad se rodila sara
a ja bila na bazenu
jednu drugu treću
neću zaboraviti
kad sam te ugledala
na stepenicama u knjižari
