This annual event will be held digitally at one session of the PWPF Poetry Event 2020, with a presentation of the award-winning poets and recitations by them. This is the annual event during which the "Jean Moréas" Prizes are awarded for Greek poetic art and Greek poetic production in its entire range. They are recognizable nationwide and concern the poetry collections that were published throughout the previous calendar year from the year of the award. They refer both to young poets and newcomers and to those who are recognized with their poetic work along time.

The event is highly appreciated by the Greek literary and artistic circle of readers. In this year's event, in addition to the institutionalized awards, a very important foreign poet will be honored, who with his/her lifelong work honors the literature outside Greece. The Award Committee is composed of Greek University professors, as well as very important poets and poetry critics who will evaluate the work of the honorees.

The Poems

What flower has come into blossom?
(Song of the Bowmen of Shu)
Ezra Pound

The bowmen of Shu still live inside the poem
the bowmen of Shu still exist – I speak, therefore
I am (I 've always been chatty, that is,
I've been afraid of death).

What does this light mean, swimming towards me? The afternoon swimmers resemble
cyclists who perform acrobatic stunts
reversing the wheels in mid air
(in a bicycle, I see a universe of theories
about movement, about consciousness, about pursuits
et cetera).

Meanwhile, death similarly cycles.
But from death the glorious day bounced like a little
deer, animals and plants chew my body
the clouds in my lake travel like eggs
(do I come from all these,
or do all these come from me?)

Inky mountains in beautiful arches form something:
the word "immortal" – who thought it into existence?
What did he ever mean, who said it first, who
second, how does it flow in blood and roaring
waters, bringing death
on the bowmen?

The bowmen of Shu are no imaginary creatures.
Pound created them with bows with arrows with
archeries, with haiku, adding
a tad of snow fluff on cherry trees.
                And they are
a beckon of Time to the lady of rhyme
who fears the chime
of silence.

Οι τοξότες Shu

What flower has come into blοssom?
(Song of the bowmen of Shu)

Εzra Pound

τη λέξη «αθάνατος» – ποιος τη σκέφτηκε;
στους τοξότες;

* * *

No, it is not lost, it is spent.
For to lose means to waste
and I wasted nothing, believe me.
My fruits are the countless bodies
-eyelids, garden fragrances, apple trees
birds flying low
journeying into my holy solitude.
What a virtuous life, those provincial towns
-to hide, to be hidden, to be confined in
wild cells
to narrate the glow of shyness in the loins
with sewing machines.
But the nights I wasted not, believe me.
As the chambers sink into darkness
the awaited one gallops and gallops
into the ruffles of my dress
then the waters seethes
and Acherousia lake trembles.
