Awarding of Poetry Awards "Jean Moréas" for the year 2019

This annual event will be held digitally at one session of the PWPF Poetry Event 2020, with a presentation of the award-winning poets and recitations by them. This is the annual event during which the "Jean Moréas" Prizes are awarded for Greek poetic art and Greek poetic production in its entire range. They are recognizable nationwide and concern the poetry collections that were published throughout the previous calendar year from the year of the award. They refer both to young poets and newcomers and to those who are recognized with their poetic work along time.

The event is highly appreciated by the Greek literary and artistic circle of readers. In this year's event, in addition to the institutionalized awards, a very important foreign poet will be honored, who with his/her lifelong work honors the literature outside Greece. The Award Committee is composed of Greek University professors, as well as very important poets and poetry critics who will evaluate the work of the honorees.

She, the Individual Zero

Revelation / Voiceless palatal fricative

The Poems

She, the Individual Zero

Upon her body, the world
catches its breath
having incubated
cephalotuses, telchines and homunculi

no salvation is recounted here
only icons of saints
frankincense, lumps of charcoal
of a lifetime's war

She is the one
who raised her finger against
who carried on her shoulders
the wretched soul of things
and talked back

She, the Individual Zero
a ship all lighted up
crosses the city
all alone

a macabre spectacle

(Vanessa Barré / English rendition

Revelation / Voiceless palatal fricative

I dreamt of a cloud like a gossamer bridal veil. It was
overwhelming the streets and the cities of the people. It
was sliding into the houses through the doors and the
windows. It was folding upwards, spreading onto the walls,
settling in the rooms and wiping them out.

It will enwrap our bodies like the Guantánamo cells. You
will not hear me, I will not see you.

Sound one. The bird knows not; it will either drown or

Who is seeking me and why
sugar and milk
my tiny handsan oar
on the stairway of heaven.

Sound two. A pond and a butchered tree. Behold your toil.
The leap has been made. Now you reap memories of the future.
Under your skin, a child and a woman struggle.

Who delves into me, who scoffs
who remembers me not
who fixes me, who breaks me
and peacefully sleeps?

Sound three. Bells.
The bells of Saint Fanourios.
The bells of Saint Fanourios in our yard.
The house quakes. The house will fly like a bird.

I just came into existence
I am barely breathing
I was born a cloud
I shall die a cloud.

Tu-tṓ. Tu. Tṓ.
Toûtoûotis. Toûtoûtis. Toûtis.
"Toûtis and taútasos, ὄρνις ποιος".

(Vanessa Barré / English rendition
Eleftheria Gazeti / Editing of the English rendition)

κι ήσυχα κοιμάται;
