Ιούλιος και Τότε.
Μια φέτα καρπούζι παγωμένο.
Ένα φεγγάρι κρεμασμένο στο αγιόκλημα. Ένα κορμί πλυμένο με το λάστιχο του κήπου.
Ένα παγωτό ξυλάκι να λιώνει στο χέρι. Μία βόλτα με τα ποδήλατα στον πευκώνα μέχρι αργά το βράδυ ήταν το καλοκαιράκι της νιότης μας, είπε ο ιερέας λίγο πριν την κάθοδο προς το κοιμητήριο με τα ιδρωμένα κυπαρίσσια.
Ιούλιος και πάλι, εκείνος με κουστούμι γαμπριάτικο, έτοιμος για το ταξίδι και ο φίλος του ιερέας να αναγιγνώσκει από το ημερολόγιο των αδικημάτων τους, γραφές μόνο για τα καλοκαίρια τους.
Όταν τα μεσημέρια στον Πόρο τα τζιτζίκια έκοβαν την ανάσα της θάλασσας, παίρνανε φόρα και κάρφωναν το κύμα με τα χέρια, μετά ξυπόλητοι στο πυρακτωμένο τσιμέντο του λιμενοβραχίονα χόρευαν χωρίς μουσική μέχρι να βρουν την πρώτη σαγιονάρα.
Ο ένας πλέον σε λειμώνες δροσερούς, ο άλλος με το πετραχήλι υμνεί μαζί με όσους εμφανίστηκαν για τον χαιρετισμό ήξεραν πως έχει χρόνο ο θάνατος και τον Ιούλιο κάθε συμπληρωμένο θέρος.
Στον Πόρο κάθε απόγευμα φόρτωναν τα όνειρα της ημέρας σε μια βαρκούλα και οι δύο φύσαγαν μαζί στο πανάκι το λευκό να νικηθούν οι τζίτζικες για να αρχίσουν τα τριζόνια.
Από τότε έμαθαν για το φως και τις σκιές του.

A slice of frozen watermelon.

Τhe Next Station
Στην ερημιά της πόλεως το λεωφορείο της γραμμής σερνόταν φωτισμένο άδειο με δύο επιβάτες.
Στο τελευταίο κάθισμα στην πίσω αριστερά πόρτα καθόταν ένα ανδρόγυνο.
Εκείνος μ' ένα καράβι χάρτινο στα χέρια με ανοιγμένα πανιά 1 και εκείνη μ' ένα μεταξωτό μαντήλι στο κλάμα βουτηγμένο.
Ο οδηγός άνοιγε και έκλεινε τις πόρτες σε κάθε στάση.
Τέτοια ώρα ποιος ν' ανέβαινε;
Ο μόνος που έμπαινε φουριόζος ήταν ο μουχλιασμένος αέρας του λαϊκού προάστιου.
Από τους καθρέπτες με τα χέρια στο τιμόνι και με κλεφτές ματιές παρατηρούσε τον άνδρα και τη γυναίκα να χαϊδεύουν ο ένας το πρόσωπο του άλλου.
Έγραφαν με τα χέρια τους το σχήμα του προσώπου τους για να γνωριστούν καλύτερα.
Έτσι διέσχισαν όλη την πόλη.
Ακούστηκε το ηχογραφημένο μήνυμα The next station Place Royal.
Tο φωτισμένο θηρίο της πόλης σταμάτησε και πάλι, άνοιξαν αυτόματα οι πόρτες.
Σηκώθηκαν, στηρίχτηκαν ο ένας στο μπράτσο της άλλης και μέτρησαν τα σκαλιά με τα λευκά ραβδιά τους.
Περπάτησαν αργά στο σκοτάδι. Άρχισε να χαράζει στην ερημιά της πόλης.
Απών ο χρόνος που άλλοτε υπαρκτός και άλλοτε ανύπαρκτος όριζε το λευκό και τις σκιές του σε αυτόν τον ρημαγμένο Αύγουστο. Η νιότη του στη μέση του δρόμου αναζητά αλήθειες στο κρυφτούλι της μνήμης για σχήματα, ήχους και χρόνους κρυμμένους.
The Next Station
In the desert of the city the bus crawled lit empty carrying two passengers.

They walked slowly through the darkness. It began to dawn in the desert of the city.
Absent was the time that sometimes existent and sometimes nonexistent ruled the white and its shadows in this deserted August. In the middle of the road its youth seeks for truths of shapes, sounds and hidden times in memory's hide-and-seek.

The Poet
Antonis D. Skiathas was born in Athens, 1960, and today lives in Patras, Greece. He studied Chemical Engineering and in Master's programs for Art Work Conservation and also for Creative Writing. He is a poet, anthologist, and literary critic. Thirteen poetry collections, and other works of his, have been published. His poems have been translated into fifteen languages and he has been anthologized both within Greece and abroad. His articles and essays on poetry, history, and education have appeared in newspapers and periodicals. He is a member of the Writers Collaboration and the Circle of Poets. In the '90s he co-edited the literary magazine Ελίτροχος. Subsequently he created and managed the Bureau of Poetry, the Jean Moréas awards, Culture Book (https://www.culturebook.gr/), and he is the chairman of the Greek Library of London. In 2020, the E.U.N.I.C.[1] honored him by appointing him representative poet of Greece in the United Kingdom. He teaches poetry in two different Master's Programs for Creative Writing.[2] [3]
