Amorous Debt

Kisses in the beginning were redeeming
,the only solution to allow amorous complexes into maniacal in-scribings
But, you understand, they kept forcing the situation
I convulsed, with a cry proper, clear
between your moist parts
and I immobilized a small flame in your aperture
We walked one within the other, flesh of the voluptuary
The tongue suffocating on teeth and old fillings
Abused each other and finished on bruised neck bites
Bare holy altar, stigmata of sin, how inceptive your light
—I crawled onto its windowsill to love and receive warmth
I'm taking you, you screamed

And I decided to take your own name
,since you couldn't endure a second day of this orgasm
You were of a different Archipelago and I should have foreseen it and saved you
from your unuttered lust still lingering inside
That's why I left no poem unread on your body
Yet as lovers, from the first days, as scripture has it
,we couldn't maintain the sense of taste and olfaction exact
and ended up explaining ourselves indifferently and more sparsely
that it must be paid, this debt of poetry
of the unsatisfied after

Ερωτική οφειλή

Ήταν στην αρχή τα φιλιά λυτρωτικά
,η μόνη λύση να εισέλθουν τα ερωτικά συμπλέγματα στις μανιώδεις γ-ραφές
Μα καταλάβαινες πως εκβίαζαν την κατάσταση
Συσπάστηκα, με σωστή κραυγή, καθαρή
ανάμεσα στα υγρά σου μέλη
κι ακινητοποίησα μια φλόγα στη σχισμή σου
Προχωρήσαμε ο ένας μέσα στον άλλον, σάρκα του φιλήδονου
Η γλώσσα να ασφυκτιά σε δόντια και παλαιά σφραγίσματα
Ασελγούσαμε κι αποτελειώναμε στις μελανιασμένες δαγκωματιές του λαιμού
Γυμνή αγία τράπεζα, στικτή αμαρτιών, πόσο αρχή το φως σου
–σύρθηκα στο περβάζι του να αγαπήσω και να ζεσταθώ
Σε παίρνω, φώναξες

Και προτίμησα να πάρω το δικό σου όνομα
,γιατί δεν άντεξες να τον ζήσεις δεύτερη μέρα τον οργασμό
Ήσουν άλλου Αρχιπελάγους κι έπρεπε να το περιμένω και να σε λυτρώσω
από την ανομολόγητη λαχτάρα που σου απόμεινε
Γι' αυτό δεν σου άφησα ούτε ένα ποίημα αδιάβαστο στο σώμα
Μα ως εραστές, από τις πρώτες μέρες κατά τας γραφάς
,αδυνατούσαμε να κρατήσουμε τη γεύση και την όσφρηση την ακριβή
και φτάσαμε να λογοδοτούμε αδιάφορα και όλο πιο αραιά
πως πρέπει να πληρωθεί αυτή η οφειλή της ποίησης
του ανικανοποίητου μετά

The iron front door

I always exit the first door hesitantly
Walk down the stairs, not look at the adjacent yard, our neighbors, usually
niceties bore me
Say goodmorning to the olive tree, I walk past the roses
,reach the apricot tree
To no avail Sofia is vexed, that now it's her mulberry here. Here lay a
wonderful and fruit-laden apricot tree. And it forever will.
At the front I open the old iron door and feel some tightness.
Inside people 've changed; feelings, careers
Outside I recognize nobody no more
I invite my absence
There are backstreets where I cool down, streets smaller facing each other, full of
music and liqueur or thus they condensed under the pencil's pressure
It's been years since I had to waive goodbye to another life, of watching clouds. I
held her hand tightly and sang to her for the first time. She felt it. Touched me
lightly on the cheek, caressed the knot on my throat. Teared up. We decided to
sleep separately, but reside together in the same house forever
Days I work a lot, nightly minor getaways in the cantons, in
Plakada, the sea and from there to the Great Square and again at Saroco and
the start of the paved street. I drop her at the height of Campiello and continue downhill
again with Wolf from Şeyh Su in Polygyrou. He too parts with me at the
intersection
of Skoufa. Fredy barks at me here. I haven't wished yet to introduce the two. They
recede with Elias' laughter, Vassilis' voice, Tzeni and father in that same
yard, their own, opposite to the apricot tree is the grapevine
It's summer afternoon with coffee and ice-cream for the lil' uns.
I don't linger, got work to do, nod that I'll drop by later
The barking fades once I've started walking up the stairs. It gets dark and I feel
now I'd like to offer and receive the neighbor's goodnight. For the winter
and that we drifted apart. I find no one, I walk back down the stairs, no front yard, no
laughter. Unrelenting darkness.

Ηow heavy it grew, the iron on my life's front door …

Βγαίνω πάντοτε με δισταγμό από την πρώτη πόρτα
Κατεβαίνω τα σκαλιά, δεν κοιτάζω στην διπλανή αυλή τους γείτονες, συνήθως βαριέμαι τα
τυπικά
Καλημερίζω την ελιά, περνάω δίπλα από τις τριανταφυλλιές
,φτάνω στη βερικοκιά
Μάταια νευριάζει η Σοφία πως είναι η μουριά της πια εδώ. Εδώ υπήρχε μία υπέροχη και
βαρυφορτωμένη βερικοκιά. Και θα είναι για πάντα
Ανοίγω την παλιά σιδερένια εξώπορτα και νιώθω ένα σφίξιμο.
Μέσα αλλάξανε άνθρωποι, συναισθήματα, καριέρες
Έξω δεν γνωρίζω κανένα πια
Επιδιώκω την απουσία μου
Είναι άλλα στενά που με δροσίζουν, μικρότεροι δρόμοι κι ανταμωτοί, γεμάτοι μουσικές και
λικέρ ή έτσι απόσταξαν με την πίεση του μολυβιού
Έχει χρόνια που έπρεπε να αποχαιρετήσω μιας άλλης ζωής το αγνάντεμα. Της κράτησα 
σφιχτά το χέρι και της τραγούδησα για πρώτη φορά. Το ένιωσε. Με άγγιξε απαλά στο 
μάγουλο, χάιδεψε τον κόμπο στον λαιμό. Δάκρυσε. Αποφασίσαμε να κοιμόμαστε χωριστά,
αλλά να κατοικήσουμε για πάντα στο ίδιο σπίτι
Τη μέρα δουλεύω πολύ, είναι μικρές οι αποδράσεις τα βράδια στα καντούνια, στην
Πλακάδα, στη θάλασσα κι από κει στη Μεγάλη Πλατεία και πάλι στο Σαρόκο και στην
αρχή του πεζόδρομου. Την αφήνω στο ύψος του Καμπιέλο και κατεβαίνω ξανά με τον
Γουλφ από το Σέιχ-Σου στην Πολυγύρου. Μ' αφήνει κι αυτός στη συμβολή της Σκουφά.
Μου γαυγίζει ο Φρέντι εδώ. Δεν θέλησα να τους γνωρίσω ακόμη. Τους ξεμακραίνουν το 
γέλιο του Ηλία, η φωνή του Βασίλη, η Τζένη κι ο πατέρας στην ίδια αυλή, τη δική τους,
απέναντι από τη βερικοκιά η κληματαριά
Είναι απόγευμα καλοκαιρινό με καφέ και παγωτό για τους μικρούς.
Δεν στέκομαι, έχω να δουλέψω, τους γνέφω πως θα περάσω μετά
Τα γαβγίσματα χάνονται μόλις αρχίσω να ανεβαίνω τη σκάλα. Βραδιάζει και νιώθω τώρα
πως θέλω να πω και να ακούσω την καληνύχτα του γείτονα. Για τον χειμώνα και πως 
χαθήκαμε. Δεν βρίσκω κανέναν, γυρνάω πίσω τις σκάλες ούτε αυλή, ούτε γέλια. Ανελέητο
σκοτάδι.

Πώς βάρυνε το σίδερο της εξώπορτας στη ζωή μου…
