The Poems
THE ONLY WAY
I loved you the way
they kill themselves
those blue birds you so craved to touch.
I picked them all one by one
to make the sky above your bed
the sea on the floor
to dive in and watch you sleep.
And if the only thing I can do
is write poems for you
it is because this is the only way I can talk
just like the flame only knows how
to burn
consuming pine trees
OR
lighting my way
at night when I set out
to find you.

THE TRUE NATURE OF A FULL MOON
Every red full moon
is a lover’s severed head
drenched in blood.
Each carries their own
by a transparent thread
truncated bodies in their thousands
their balloons filling the sky.
η πραγματική φύση ενός μοτίβου
Κάθε κόκκινη πανσέληνος
είναι ένα κομμένο κεφάλι ερωτευμένου
βουτηγμένο στο αίμα.
Κρατάει ο καθένας το δικό του
από μια διάφανη κλωστή
χιλιάδες τα κολοβωμένα σώματα
γεμίζουν με τα μπαλόνια τους τον ουρανό.
The Poet
Christos Armando Gezos was born in Himara in 1988 and grew up in Skala, Laconia. He is a graduate of the School of Rural Surveying Engineering of NTUA. He has been awarded the State Award for Newcomer Writer 2013 for his poetry collection “Unfulfilled Fears”, published by Melani Publications. His latest novel “Lost Needle” was published in June 2021 by Metaichmio Publications.
Ο Χρήστος Αρμάντο Γκέζος γεννήθηκε στη Χιμάρα το 1988 και μεγάλωσε στη Σκάλα Λακωνίας. Είναι απόφοιτος της Σχολής Αγρονόμων Τοπογράφων Μηχανικών ου ΕΜΠ. Έχει βραβευτεί με το Κρατικό Βραβείο Πρωτοεμφανιζόμενου Συγγραφέα 2013 για την ποιητική του συλλογή «Ανεκπλήρωτοι Φόβοι», που κυκλοφορεί από τις εκδόσεις Μελάνι. Το τελευταίο του μυθιστόρημα «Χάθηκε Βελόνι» κυκλοφόρησε τον Ιούνιο του 2021 από τις εκδόσεις Μεταίχμιο.
