"L'età dell'uva" (Perrone, 2021)
Vedi, non restano che i nostri
frutti sulla tavola:
mia madre che li sbuccia; i loro
nomi che pendono dall'orlo
e cadono tra il pavimento e l'invisibile.
Ora all'uva basta un soffio per marcire
in fretta e diventare una preghiera.
You see, only our
fruits remain on the table:
my mother peeling them; their
names that hang from the brim
and fall between the floor and the invisible.
Now a breath is enough for grapes
to rot quickly and become a prayer.

Vorrei conoscere il mondo dei morti,
reclamarlo in una lingua senza storia
che non abbia una grammatica, ma possa
avverare tutto ciò che si pronuncia.
Mi usano per parlare a chi è rimasto,
vogliono che dica, rovesciandola,
la parola che non hanno mai trovato.
I'd like to know the world of the dead,
claim it in a language without history
that doesn't have a grammar, but can
make everything you say come true.
They use me to talk to whoever is left,
they want me to say, upside down,
the word they never found.
The Poet
Mattia Tarantino (Naples, 2001) is "Inverso – Giornale di poesia" co-director and part of the editorial staff of "Atelier". He collaborates with numerous magazines, in Italy and abroad, including "Buenos Aires Poetry". His verses have been translated into more than ten languages. He has published "L'età dell'uva" (2021), "Fiori estinti" (2019), "Tra l'angelo e la sillaba" (2017) and translated "Verso Carcassonne" (2021), by Juan Arabia and "Poema della fine" (2020), by Vasilisk Gnedov .
