Hesitation

We need to talk
I'm ready
though I'm afraid·
before I call you
I flip through the notes again
It took me the whole night
to write
to combine the syllables
Now that the sun insists on rising
the desire to take a step
recedes within me
time has passed
the daylight drags out hesitation
I am not sure
if I finally want to talk to you.

Δισταγμός

Θέλω να μιλήσουμε
έχω ετοιμαστεί
όμως φοβάμαι·
πριν σου τηλεφωνήσω
φυλλομετρώ ξανά τις σημειώσεις
τις έγραφα
όλη νύχτα
συνδυάζοντας τις συλλαβές
τώρα που ο ήλιος επιμένει να βγει
η επιθυμία να κάνω ένα βήμα
υποχωρεί μέσα μου
έχει περάσει και η ώρα
η μέρα αργοσέρνει δισταγμό
δεν είμαι σίγουρη
να σου μιλήσω αν θέλω τελικά.

The Winterswimmers

December noontime
bathers undress their sins
-shamelessly-
spread the towels
on broken chairs
steam in the cold air
feed two strays under the touch of the crippled sun
consent to bits of human breath
snuggle into the seabed
Bottom remembers them
They snuggle into themselves
and resurface others
in the dull light of winter
they mill their passions into the waves
in the cold salted fire
they blow life into their dreams
then they dress with hasty moves
exchange peeks
- out of place.
They count them as profits of the day.
Only afew can understand this bond.

Οι Χειμερινοί

Μεσημέρι του Δεκέμβρη
οι λουόμενοι ξεντύνονται τις αμαρτίες τους
-χωρίς αιδώ-
απλώνουν τις πετσέτες
στις σπασμένες καρέκλες
αχνίζουν στον κρύο αέρα
ταΐζουν δυο αδέσποτα στην αφή του ανάπηρου ήλιου
συναινούν στο λίγο της ανθρώπινης ανάσας
χώνονται στο βυθό
Τους θυμάται
χώνονται μέσα τους
αναδύονται άλλοι
στο θαμπόφωτο του χειμώνα
αλέθουν στα κύματα τα πάθη
στην κρύα αλατισμένη φωτιά
φυσούν ζωή στα όνειρα
ύστερα ντύνονται με γρήγορες κινήσεις
ανταλλάσσουν κλεφτές ματιές
- χωρίς το εδώ-
τις λογίζουν στα κέρδη της ημέρας·
λίγοι μπορούν να καταλάβουν αυτήν τη σχέση.

The Poet

Kleoniki Drougka is a graduate of the Philosophy School, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), holder of a master's and doctoral degree. Her ideological orientations focus on scriptwriting – cinema, poetry, prose and education. She has published two books, her scientific articles have been published in Greek and foreign journals, her presentations in proceedings of Greek and international conferences and her poems-short stories in various literary journals. She has written short fiction film scripts and participated in the creation of documentary films, winning awards in Greek and international competitions. She works at the Film Department, School of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki as a member of the Special Teaching Staff (EEP), with the teaching subject "Script".

Η Κλεονίκη Δρούγκα είναι πτυχιούχος Φιλοσοφικής ΑΠΘ, κάτοχος μεταπτυχιακού και διδακτορικού διπλώματος. Οι ιδεολογικοί προσανατολισμοί της στρέφονται σε σενάριο – κινηματογράφο, ποίηση, πεζογραφία και εκπαίδευση. Έχει εκδώσει ένα βιβλίο, επιστημονικά άρθρα της έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε ελληνικά και ξένα περιοδικά, εισηγήσεις της σε πρακτικά ελληνικών και διεθνών συνεδρίων και ποιήματα-διηγήματα σε ποικίλα λογοτεχνικά περιοδικά. Την πρώτη ποιητική της συλλογή «Οκλαδόν με το χρόνο» εκδίδει ο οίκος «Μανδραγόρας». Συνέγραψε σενάρια μικρού μήκους ταινιών μυθοπλασίας και συνεργάστηκε σε ταινίες τεκμηρίωσης, με βραβεύσεις σε ελληνικούς και διεθνείς διαγωνισμούς. Εργάζεται στο Τμήμα Κινηματογράφου, Σχολής Καλών Τεχνών ΑΠΘ ως μέλος Ειδικού Εκπαιδευτικού Προσωπικού (ΕΕΠ), με διδακτικό αντικείμενο «Σενάριο».
