IN A NON-LOGICAL SPACE
The sea I am searching for
is not made of water.
It does not shift any wave
no does it fear land.
It is a sea built
to walk on - to fly
where the birds head to
ΣΕ ΜΗ-ΛΟΓΙΚΟ ΧΩΡΟ
Η θάλασσα που ψάχνω
δεν είναι από νερό φτιαγμένη.
Δεν μετακινεί κανένα κύμα
ούτε φοβάται τη στεριά.
Είναι μια θάλασσα κτισμένη
για να πατήσεις – να πετάξεις
εκεί που φεύγουν τα πουλιά

SOLOIST
Nobody went to the concert.
But the soloist performed
as if two humanities were present
The applause was heard, it is still heard…
The apostates of this sound
would have very much liked to be present

Κανείς δεν πήγε στο κονσέρτο.
Μα ο σολίστ έπαιξε
ωσάν να ήτανε παρούσες δύο ανθρωπότητες
Το χειροκρότημα ακούστηκε, ακούγεται ακόμα.
Οι αποστάτες του ήχου αυτού
πολύ θα ήθελαν να ήτανε παρόντες
Κανείς δεν πήγε στο κονσέρτο.

The Poet
Andreas Georgallides studied Pedagogical Sciences, History, Archaeology and Philosophy at the University of Cyprus. He pursued postgraduate studies in Philosophy at the University Paris Ι-Panthéon-Sorbonne and obtained his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sussex (UK). He wrote, translated and edited philosophy books and articles in Greek and English. He has also published seven poetry collections and his poetry was translated and published in sixteen languages. In 2019, in Paris, he was awarded the Silver Medal by the Academy of Sciences, Literature and Arts, and in 2021, in Italy, he was awarded the Gold Medal (Riconoscimento per Meriti Letterari) by the Casa Editrice Kimerik. He is a member of the Cyprus Writers' Union, La Société Arts-Sciences-Lettres, Société des Auteurs Poètes de la Francophonie, Académie Européenne des Arts, La Société des Études Néo-helléniques, Griechischer Kunstclub Nürnberg and the United Poets Laureate International. Additionally, he is a member of the Greek Philosophical Society, The Royal Institute of Philosophy, British Wittgenstein Society and Wittgenstein Initiative.
* O Ανδρέας Γεωργαλλίδης σπούδασε Παιδαγωγικά, Ιστορία-Αρχαιολογία και Φιλοσοφία στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Κύπρου. Aκολούθησε μεταπτυχιακές σπουδές στη Φιλοσοφία στο Πανεπιστήμιο Paris Ι-Panthéon-Sorbonne και έλαβε το διδακτορικό του δίπλωμα στη Φιλοσοφία από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Sussex (UK). Έγραψε, μετέφρασε και επιμελήθηκε βιβλία και άρθρα φιλοσοφίας στα ελληνικά και στα αγγλικά. Επίσης, εξέδωσε επτά ποιητικές συλλογές και το ποιητικό του έργο έχει μεταφραστεί και εκδοθεί σε δεκαέξι γλώσσες. Το 2019 τιμήθηκε στο Παρίσι με το Αργυρό Μετάλλιο από την Ακαδημία Επιστημών, Γραμμάτων και Τεχνών και το 2021 τιμήθηκε στην Ιταλία με το Χρυσό Μετάλλιο (Riconoscimento per Meriti Letterari) από τις Εκδόσεις Kimerik. Είναι Μέλος στους Λογοτεχνικούς Οργανισμούς Ένωση Λογοτεχνών Κύπρου, La Société Arts-Sciences-Lettres, Société des Auteurs Poètes de la Francophonie, Académie Européenne des Arts, La Société des Études néo-helléniques, Griechischer Kunstclub Nürnberg και United Poets Laureate International.
